A bellows is a thin-walled, hose-like component made of elastic material such as rubber, plastic, or metal that is folded up in an "accordion-like" manner in order to be able to change its length.

A bellows protects mechanical components from external influences or contamination and is also used to seal machine elements and to compensate for axial and lateral movements between two components.
